Course Syllabus

Course Overview:

Welcome to Knights Seminar.  The objective of this course is to assist students in making forward decisions regarding their future and occupational goals.  The course is a half-year in length, which means we will cover a vast amount of material in a short period of time.  Areas of concentration include a clear understanding of the Knights’ Code, opportunities within Monarch, goal setting and time management, learning styles, study strategies, reading strategies, communication skills, positive decision making, money management/budgeting and resume writing and interview skills.

Course Outcomes:

Upon completion of Knights’ Seminar students will display a greater knowledge with the basic understanding and skills to successfully graduate from high school and have a specific plan of action for their future.

Class Requirements:

  • Students are expected to come to class prepared and on time as well as participate in discussions and other activities.
  • Students should maintain a three ring binder with dividers as well as bring a

rewriteable CD(CD-RW)

  • Tests are given after each unit.  Tests are given with a variety of multiple

choice, fill-in the blanks and essays.

Class Rules:

  1. Students are expected to give and show respect at all times.  A failure to abide by this rule will not be tolerated.
  2. Students are required to wear an official Monarch High School I.D. Badge to class.  This badge should be worn around the neck.
  3. Students at no time will be able to use their cell phone in class.  If cell phone is out, it will be taken, and parents will have to come after school to pick it up.
  4. Students causing distractions to the class will be appropriately handled.  Misbehavior will not be tolerated.
  5. There is no late homework unless excused absence.

Lastly, I am here to help you.  I hope to have a fun and fulfilling year with the class of 2010.
