Spanish 1 Weekly Objectives: Second Quarter

Make-up work is the student's responsibility, as the assignments will be posted on teacher's website on a daily basis. When students return, they are given 2 days (per absence) to complete the work. However, an unexcused absence may result in losing half the credit on the given assignment. Please view the section in the Broward County Code of Conduct regarding this topic.

Extra help is available Mondays from 3:00pm to 4:00pm in Room 405 (the weight room)

I am also available at 7:10 a.m. everymorning for extra help and make-up assignments. If the student is not able to come in at that time,    please let me know so that we can make other arrangements. Thank you for your cooperation.

week of October 27:

Objective:  Students will learn how to talk about and describe members of their family.  They will also learn about the similarities between the families in the United States and families in Chile.

lunes: Repaso: reviewed expressions on time as well as express what he/she wants to do on the weekend. Students learned how to talk about different members of the family.  Page 158. Worked on family tree project, due November 5.

martes:  Learn the verb traer (to bring) and hacer (to do).

miercoles: Learn how to describe family members, Page 158 and 159. Complete Activity 1-3 on page 160.

HOMEWORK: Study Vocabulary on Page 140, and 148.( Students may use note cards to help them learn new verbs). Studied the verbs saber (to know), ver (to see), and salir (to go out) in class.

miercoles: Group Project: Students will be able to describe facts about the architecture, food, celebrations and fine art of Chile.  Studies the verbs comer (to eat, venir (to come), and escribir (to write).  Vocabulary 2 - students will learn about daily chores and

things they always/never do on a daily basis.

jueves:  Architecture project: Students will draw the house of their dreams. page 168 and 169.

viernes:  Vocabulary Quiz.  Student will write a rough draft about their family tree. 

week of November 3:

Objective:  Students are continuing to learn about the family structure in Spanish speaking homes, the family roles and how they live.

lunes: Los Quehaces, page 172; Possessive Adjectives, page 162; study the use of: nunca, tampoco, nadie and nada;

martes:  No hay clase. Enjoy your day off!  Remember to complete your family tree project, if you have not already done so.

miercoles: Review Turn in Family Tree project (Quiz Grade).  Students will present their family tree to class. Review: dormir, almorzar, jugar, volver, and empezar.

jueves: study 178, tocar  and parecer. Complete Review on Page 184, Assignment 1-5 and 7.

viernes:  Chapter 5 Test. Begin Chapter 6: students will learn about Mexican culture and food.

week of November 17:

Objective:  Students are continuing to about Mexican culture and food.  They are also learning about proper restaurant manners.

lunes: vocabulary 6.1; learn how to comment on food; Complete Activity 7-11 in textbook; learn servir/pedir, and Complete activities 13-15.

martes:  BAT testing. complete VIS on vocabulary found on worksheet packet and take notes on the Vocabulary 6.2 page 208; learn to take orders and polite make requests

miercoles: Direct objects and direct object pronouns. Affirmative informal comands-complete activities 30-32; Affirmative commands with pronouns-complete Activities 34-37.

jueves: Quiz: vocabulary 6.1, know how to use the verbs: pedir, servir, probar.  All material covered this week may be on the quiz. 

viernes: Project (rough draft) due; Chapter 6 Review; Notebook check. Presentation on Mexico.

Objective:  Students will be able to carry on a converseration in spanish about different types of food, and describe characteristics about these items (ex. Las frutas son saludables). They will also Learn about Mayan and Aztec civilizations in Mexico.

lunes: Beber vs. Comer? powerpoint presentation, View the film Mexico: Revealed

martes:  Open book test on Chapter 6: vocabulary 1 and 2, grammar and information on Mexico will be covered.

miercoles:Menu Due (Final Draft);Video Novela; Listening Activity 1 and 2; grammar review-conjugation of regular verbs: Limpiar, comer, cortar, merendar, sacar, hacer, probar.

jueves: HAPPY TURKEY DAY :)

Objective: Students will learn about healthy living habits.

lunes: begin Chapter 7, more imperative verbs,'stick figure assignment', and vocabulary 1, Partes del Cuerpo (vocab.1 review).

martes: verbs with reflexive pronouns; using infinatives in present tense sentenses; the use of tener and estar with reflexive pronouns

practice stem changing verbs(page 244).  Homework: Study/review class lesson on online textbook.

miercoles: discuss antes de, despues de and para with infinative verbs, complete vocabulary 2(page 246); learn how to express feelings with the verbs, sentir, estar, and tener(page 250). Homework: Study/review class lesson on online textbook.

jueves: learn vocabulary about sports and other activities that promote good health; object and reflexive pronouns with commands (page 254)

martes: complete VIS  for page 234, and 263.  Complete study chart to review sentir, estar, and tener.  Write ten sentences using the verbs sentir, estar, and tener.  Learned how to use the words deber and dejar in sentences. Also complete activities 31 and 32 on page 253.  Study object pronouns with commands on page 254.
