Course Purpose: This course is designed to develop and enhance healthy behaviors that influence students’ lifestyle choices, health, and fitness.
Course Requirements: Classroom work, Fitness labs, and Written tests and quizzes Fitness assessments – pre and post Electronic Portfolio
Rules for Success: *Be in the locker room before the tardy bell rings *Use your own locker and wear your own clothes *Dress out regardless of weather conditions *Use appropriate social skills, showing respect for yourself and others at all times *Be a “Knight”, exhibit all characteristics found in the knight’s code of conduct
Grading system: Dress out/Participation, fitness assessments, and labs = 50% Classroom assignments, homework, written tests, and quizzes = 50%
Course Content: -Identifying your level of fitness -Training for Fitness -Nutrition and Weight Control -Stress Management -The Five Health Related Components of Fitness -Designing a Fitness Program -CPR and AED -Depression/Suicide Prevention -Self Esteem -Communication and Refusal Skills -Communicable and Non Communicable Diseases -Drug Education -Human Sexuality
Make Up Policy: If you are absent from class you have two days for each absence to meet the following requirements: You may read an article, make a web of the main idea and supporting facts, and summarize the article, run one mile after school, or complete an FCAT worksheet that I will provide for you. You will also need to go to your teacher’s webpage and look for the day’s classroom activities and/or ask another reliable student what you missed. It is at the teacher’s discretion which assignment will be completed for the physical portion of the absence. |
