Course Name: World History/World History Honors Semester: Fall 2009 Instructor: Mr. Coyle Email: Joseph.Coyle@browardschools.com Office Hours: Office hours must be arranged during class, or by email when appropriate.
Course Overview: This course will provide you with the basic foundation needed to understand the history of the world. In chronological order, from the beginning of civilization to World War 1 and beyond, we will cover a multitude of historical concepts that have helped to shape this planet.
Suggested Course Materials: Three-ring binder with dividers, pen and/or pencil, and a capacity to learn!
Classroom Rules and Requirements:
Classroom Evaluation/Grading:
You will be graded based on your grasp of the concepts and knowledge discussed in class. In addition to the standard quizzes and tests, you will keep a journal that will contain various classwork assignments regarding historical studies and concepts. You will also be responsible for two projects that will be discussed at a later date.
The grading scale will be handled as follows:
A: 90-100 B: 80-89 C: 70-79 D: 60-69 F: 59 and below
Cheating will not be tolerated, and if caught, a grade of “F” will be given for the semester. Remember to always use proper sources and references and give credit when appropriate.
