Thursday, October 18 , 2012. Club meeting after school in room 369 followed by campus recycling.

Saturday, October 20, 2012.  Beach clean-up at Deerfield Beach 9 am.-12 noon.  See Ms. McDade or Mr. Lane for permission forms.  We will meet across from the fire station (same place as last time).

Saturday, November 10, 2012.  Next planned beach clean-up.  Details to follow.

Saturday, September 15, 2012.  Coastal Cleanup.  We had a great turn out of students participating in the annual Broward County Coastal Cleanup at Deerfield Beach.  A big THANK YOU to all of you amazing students who came out!

Saturday, April 28, 2012.  Annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway.  Planting trees is a great way to help the environment!  The environmental club volunteers, and some really hard workers from Ms. McDade's science classes, helped distribute free trees at the annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway in Coconut Creek.  We also had a "Beneficial Insects" table and gave away 3000 ladybugs as part of our educational outreach effort.  Thanks to all who braved the pouring rain and came out to work and get wet and dirty!

Saturday, April 14, 2012.  Monarch Hill Earth Day Celebration.  We had a great group of students come out to help with this annual event.  Many thanks to all who volunteered.




Friday, March 30, 2012. Relay for Life.  Thank you Earth Guardians!!  We had a fantastic turn-out of members Friday night to help with this annual fund raiser for the the American Cancer Society.  Special congratulations to all who raised $100.00 or more.  Click here for our team fundraising results.

Saturday, March 10, 2012. Water Matters Day  10th annual water matters day celebration tree giveaway at Treetops Park.  This was a great success!  A great big THANK YOU to all who worked this event.  Our students worked in a cooperative effort with hight school students from several other Broward schools.  Our students are awesome!

Fantastic field trip!  Thanks to all who helped make sandwiches; and thanks to all our students who asked really good questions during the tours.

November 17, 2011: Presentation on recycling from "Mr. Recycle" right after the meeting in room 369.

November 15, America Recycles Day  - Don't pass it up, pick it up! Note that members of the recycling committee should come to room 369 right after school Tuesday for reycling pick up assignments.

October 22, 2011. Monarch Environmental Club joined Kids Ecology Corps to help restoration efforts at Snyder Park.

September 17, 2011.  Thanks to all of our members who participated in the Beach clean-up




International Day of Peace was September 21, "Pinwheels for Peace" at Monarch High School.  The visors decorated for peace, and with pinwheels were fantastic - thanks to all who participated!







2010-2011  Environmental Club Highlights:


Recycling collections on June 1, 6 and 8 resulted in over 16 cubic yards (several thousand pounds) of paper, pastic and cans for recycling - thanks to all who participated.




Our "green" house (with wind and solar power), built by club members for the "Pinwheels for Peace" celebration....


... special thanks to Ms. Ayers for allowing club members to use her classroom while designing and assembling the house.


In April, we had a very educational and enlightening tour of the energy to waste facility and landfill on Wiles Road...
